Why you should book a Houseboat in a Wetland Tour?
Here is the key reasons

First let’s talk about Wetland location and tour plan

One of the most beautiful wetlands/lakes (HAOR in Bengali) in Bangladesh is Tanguar wetlands/lake. This lake is located in the Sunamganj district of Sylhet division, which is located in the north-east part of Bangladesh and is full of natural beauty. It is one of the most preferred destinations for local and foreign travel enthusiasts.

Where you will stay in a houseboat for 2 days and 1 night. And this houseboat will take you around different spots of wetlands.

Everything from cooking, eating and drinking to toilet will be in this houseboat.

But,

Where to board the houseboat?

What kind of cost?

What to do when booking a houseboat?

What are the reasons for the different price differences?

Where to visit in the wetland?

I will discuss these issues in detail here. Hopefully, after reading completely, there will be no more questions about houseboats and this Tanguar wetland. So, Let’s start…..

Where to start and what to do?

Let’s discuss first, where to go? And what do you see?

Your boat journey will start from one of the ghats in Sunamganj or Tahirpur. From the beginning you will see water and water all around. The boat will leave in the morning and reach the Watchtower area. This place will give you the vibe of Swamp Forest. Here you can swim and bathe in this crystal clear water. If you want, take a small boat to roam inside the lagoon. Then, board a houseboat to take in the stunning scenery and reach Teker Ghat by evening.

Here is the Syed Siraj Lake also known as Niladri Lake and the hills covered with green grass carpets and flanking the huge hills which are part of India. The eyes are calmed by seeing.

Night stay in a houseboat, next day you can rent a bike for 100 taka and go around from Lakhnachra. On the 2nd day, you can visit the magical river in the afternoon. Shimul garden on one side of the river, greenish shimul garden can be seen in monsoon. The entrance fee to Shimul Bagan is 30 taka per person. And there is magic in the beauty of the magical river. Diving here is a must. Among them you will find Barikka Tila. The view of the magical river from Barikka Tila is just amazing. From here you can see the breathtaking view of the waterfall coming down the hills of India. After all, everything you see from the houseboat is beautiful, and you will be completely satisfied.

Now I will discuss- how to go?

You can come directly from Dhaka to Sunamganj district of Sylhet division by bus. The rent will be around Tk 800-900. You have to get down from the bus at the ghat. Houseboat tourism has reached a new level in the last few years. There are more than 80 houseboats. There are many other ghats including Saheb Bari Ghat, Baisakhali Ghat, Wejkhali Ghat only in Sunamganj city. You can go to these ghats by renting a rickshaw for Tk 20-30 within a distance of 2-3 km from the bus stand.

Now the question is, if you come to Sunamganj and go to any one of the ghats, will you get a houseboat to go to wetland/lake? The answer is no. A big no. Because, every houseboat leaves the ghat for a minimum of 2 days with guests. The houseboats that dock are actually docked after a tour for a little maintenance, cleaning and preparation for the next trip. Unless you are very lucky, you are 99% sure that you will not get any ready-to-go houseboat at the wharf.

Moreover, each houseboat has a guest capacity of 10-30 depending on the size. You must book a houseboat or its cabin in advance. At the time of booking, the houseboat authorities will tell you when, where, which houseboat you will check in?

How much does it cost?

According to the capacity, size of the houseboat, food and facilities, the fare per person for 2 days and 1 night ranges from Tk 5000 to Tk 15000. All tours are for 2 days and 1 night. shows the same spot. Each serves 5 main meals.

So what’s the difference?

The difference is in convenience. Some houseboats have large lobbies, some have swings, and some houseboats are completely open. Some houseboats have cabin facilities, some of which have retractable doors. Some boats have an attached washroom with the cabin. Some cabins have private balconies, some even have swings on their private balconies. Most boats are non AC. Some boats only have lobby AC. Some boats may also have AC in the cabin. As these benefits increase, the price also increases. Besides, some houseboats offer free welcome drinks, coffee, seasonal fruits, etc. to their guests in addition to main meals. Apart from this, the fares on holidays and regular days are more or less. Those who are bachelors and friends who go together usually prefer open houseboats. And those traveling with family prefer cabins. This difference is made for us, for you. You can book any houseboat according to your budget, convenience and preference.

What time is best to do this tour?

As this place is a wetland, the best time to visit is during the monsoon season. Even the monsoon season is the best time to visit any wetland area in Bangladesh. Monsoon season in Bangladesh is mainly July-August. But you can visit Waterland at a convenient time from July to September.
